Merve Dündar focuses on the interplay between the inner world and the external environment, examining the boundaries and interactions between the individual self and the social self, as well as the concepts of self and reality. She is interested in how social norms and sensory experiences of the external world shape emotions and thoughts, thereby constructing the self and reality. Her work seeks to connect personal reflections to shared emotions and experiences. Working across various media including drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, and employing a variety of materials, paper and its various forms serve as her primary medium. In her text-based works, she uses words both as subjects and materials. Her work is characterized by repetitions, rhythm sought through these repetitions, layers, and acts of deconstruction and reconstruction.
